The reward of setting out to implement the Deen

Hadhrat Abbas (R.A) relates that once the prophet peace be upon him despatched Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Rawaha (R.A) with a group.Coincidentally, it was a Friday. Abdullah Ibn Rawaha's companions departed the very same morning but he did not accompany them thinking he will join them somewhere along the road after he performed Jummah prayer with the Prophet. After the Jummah prayer, the Prophet peace be upon him saw Abdullan Ibn Rawaha whereupon he enquired: ' O Abdullah! why didn't you depart this morning with the group? ' He replied: ' O Prophet of Allah! i thought it a good idea to perform jummah prayer behind you and meet them somewhere along the road. ' Upon this the Prophet peace be upon him said: ' If you spend all the wealth of the earth in the path of Allah, you will be unable to gain the reward of those who set forth this morning. '
(Mishkaat pg. 340)

Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (R.A) relates: A Sahabi once passed by a mountain pass in which a spring of sweet water was flowing. The Sahabi was extremely pleased with this scenery and he said; ' How wonderful it would be to abandon everything else and stay in this beautiful environment. ' Somehow the Prophet peace be upon him learnt of his statement whereupon he told the Sahaba : ' Do not ever do this because setting out from home in order to elevate the deen of Allah Ta'ala entails greater reward than than performing seventy years of salah at home. '
(Tirmidhi)

Hadhrat Uthmaan (R.A) relates that the Prophet peace be upon him said; ' Patrolling for a single day in the path of Allah is more superior than a thousand days of worship at home. '
(Tirmidhi & Nasai)

Hadhrat Salman Farisi (R.A) relates that he heard the Prophet peace be upon him saying: ' A little while in the morning or evening spent in the path of Allah is more superior than the whole world and whatever it contains. '
(Bukhari & Muslim)

Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas (R.A) relates that the Prophet peace be upon him said: ' The dust that gathers onto the feet of a Muslim who sets out in the path of Allah, the fire of hell will not touch his feet. '
In other words, the fire of hell is haraam on the one who sets out in the path of Allah.
(Bukhari)
